칠십인역 에스더에는 마소라 사본에 존재하지 않는 여섯 개의 본문이 나타난다. 칠십인역의 다른 책들과 칠십인역 에스더를 비교할 때 드러나는 칠십인역 에스더의 독특한 점은 기존에 존재하던 히브리어 에스더 본문에 여섯 개의 본문이 추가로 덧붙여졌다는 점이다. 예를 들면 칠십인역 중에 유딧기나 토빗기 같은 경우는 하나의 단권으로 쓰인 책이고, 기존에 존재하던 히브리어로 쓰인 책들(오경, 예언서, 성문서 등)은 다소 차이가 있지만 그에 상응하는 헬라어로 번역된다. 기존에 있던 책에 여러 본문이 첨가된 경우는 에스더, 다니엘, 예레미야 등과 같다. 첨가된 본문이라고 해서 단지 부록으로 여기기보다는, 헬레니즘 시대에 유대 및 그리스 문학의 융합적 관점에서 바라보아야 한다. 유대 종교화 문화가 헬레니즘 문화 안에서 어떻게 꽃 피웠는지 밝혀주는 귀한 본문들이다. 본 논문은 이러한 추가 본문 중에 아직 한국 학계에 널리 알려지지 않은 칠십인역 에스더 추가 본문에 관한 내용과 의미를 살피고, 칠십인역 에스더의 연구동향을 서설(敍說)하는 데 있다. 칠십인역 에스더는 원-칠십인역(Old Greek: OG-에스더)과 알파-본문(Alpha-Text: AT-에스더) 이 두 본문이 전승됐는데, 본 글은 이 중 OG-에스더에 초점을 맞추고자 한다. 이 목적에 따라 2장에서는 OG-에스더 추가 본문에 대한 명칭과 마소라 본문 에스더(MT-에스더)와 비교하여 OG-에스더의 전체적인 구조를 살펴본다. 3장에서는 OG-에스더 추가 본문의 내용을 요약하고, MT-에스더와 비교하여 OG-에스더의 독특한 내용을 파악하고자 한다. 4장에서는 2장과 3장을 바탕으로 OG-에스더 추가 본문에 대한 최근까지의 연구동향을 논하고, OG-에스더에 관한 연구를 발전시킬 수 있는 방향에 대해 고찰해 보고자 한다.
A unique feature of the Septuagint Esther, compared to other books of the Septuagint, is the addition of six passages to the text which are not found in the Masoretic Text.. For example, while books like Judith and Tobit in the Septuagint are written as single volumes, the existing Hebrew books (Pentateuch, Prophets, Writings, etc.) are translated into Greek with some differences. Books with several added passages include Esther, Daniel, and Jeremiah. The added passages should not be viewed merely as appendices but from the perspective of the fusion of Jewish and Greek literature during the Hellenistic period. These passages are valuable texts that reveal how Jewish religion and culture flourished within Hellenistic culture. This paper examines the content and significance of the additional passages of the Septuagint Esther and discusses the research trends of the Septuagint Esther. The Septuagint Esther has been transmitted in two versions: the Old Greek (OG-Esther) and the Alpha-Text (AT-Esther). This paper focuses on the OG-Esther. Chapter 2 examines the names of the additional passages in the OG-Esther and compares the overall structure of the OG-Esther with the Masoretic Text Esther (MT-Esther). Chapter 3 summarizes the content of the additional passages in the OG-Esther and identifies the unique content of the OG-Esther compared to the MT-Esther. Chapter 4 discusses recent research trends on the additional passages of the OG-Esther, based on Chapters 2 and 3, and considers directions for advancing research on the OG-Esther.
