이 논문은 2023년 2월 6일 발생한 대지진으로 막대한 피해를 입은 안타키아(구 안티오크) 시민들이 겪은 고통을 배경으로 인간 존엄성 문제를 다룬다. 핵심적으로 제기되는 질문은, 공동의 성지가 파괴된 것이 도시의 문화유산과 다양한 공동체 간의 문화·종교 간 관계 역학에 어떤 영향을 미치는가이다. 이론적 논지는 인간 존엄성을 관계적 개념으로, 즉 서로 다른 공동체 간의 관계를 형성하는 인간 잠재력을 포착하는 역동적 힘으로 이해해야 한다는 것이다.
This article aims at addressing the question of human dignity in the face of the suffering that people of the city of Antakya (formerly Antioch) experienced after the devastating earthquakes on February 6, 2023. The main question the article raises is concerned with the impact the destruction of shared sacred sites has on the heritage of the city and the dynamics of intercultural and interreligious relations among its different communities. The theoretical argument is that human dignity must be conceptualized in relational terms as a dynamic force that captures the human potential to shape relations among different communities.
