본 연구는 갈라디아서 6장 16절의 “하나님의 이스라엘” 용어와 “새 창조” 모티프의 신학적 상관관계를 심층적으로 분석하여 바울의 의도를 명확히 밝히는 것을 목적으로 한다. 갈라디아서 6장 16절의 하나님의 이스라엘이라는 표현은 신약성경에서 단 한 번 사용된 표현으로, 학자들 사이에서 다양한 해석이 존재한다. 본 연구는 갈라디아서 전체 맥락에서 “새창조” 모티프와 “하나님의 이스라엘” 용어가 어떻게 연계되어 있는지 고찰한다. 이를 통해 바울이 예수 그리스도의 구속 사역을 통해 성취된 이스라엘의 종말론적 회복을 강조하며, 새 언약 공동체로서의 새로운 정체성을 수신자들에게 부여하고자 했음을 밝힌다. 또한, 본 연구는 이사야서와 『희년서』의 “새 창조” 모티프와의 비교를 통해 바울의 독창적인 신학적 해석을 조명한다. 바울은 아브라함 언약과 시내산 언약의 상관관계를 설명하며, 갈라디아서 수신자들이 예수 그리스도를 믿음으로 의롭게 된 자들임을 강조하고, 그들의 새로운 소속을 “하나님의 이스라엘”로 규정한다. 본 연구는 이러한 신학적 분석을 통해 갈라디아서뿐만 아니라 바울서신 전체의 신학적 이해를 돕는 중요한 통찰을 제공하며, 현대 신앙인들에게도 정체성과 소속을 재확립하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다.
This study aims to elucidate Paul’s intent by thoroughly analyzing the theological correlation between the term “the Israel of God” in Galatians 6:16 and the motif of “new creation.” Galatians 6:16 is a unique expression in the New Testament, prompting various interpretations among scholars. This study examines how the motifs of “new creation” and “the Israel of God” are interconnected within the overall context of Galatians. Through this, it is revealed that Paul emphasizes the eschatological restoration of Israel achieved through the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, intending to impart a new identity as a covenant community to his recipients. Furthermore, this study sheds light on Paul’s original theological interpretation by comparing the “new creation” motif in Isaiah and the Book of Jubilees. Paul elucidates the relationship between the Abrahamic and Sinai covenants, highlighting that the recipients of Galatians are justified by faith in Jesus Christ and redefining their new affiliation as “the Israel of God.” This study offers significant insights that aid in the theological understanding of not only Galatians but also the Pauline epistles as a whole, playing an important role in reaffirming identity and belonging for contemporary believers.
